And he does his own stunts, too

In his biggest starring role yet, it's Kasper. Due to this movie's violent content, parental discretion is advised. In fact, a little parental discretion would have served me well here. You'll see. The director (Meaghan) would like it known that no daddies were harmed in the making of this film.

Riding the rails

Kasper, Meaghan and Grandma road the train home on Wednesday and it pretty much wore the little guy out. Or maybe he's just tired out from all the growing he's been doing. Take a look at him now -- he's packing on the pounds at an alarming rate. And here we were hoping he'd stay in the 3-6 month size at least until he's actually three months old.

Sweet Carolina

Kasper's 300-mile odyssey to see the Rynne crew in North Carolina went so well, he decided he's sticking around until Wednesday. Mommy's keeping him company, and Dad will meet them both, along with Grandma, at the train station. Kasper's smart to stay as long as he can: he's got a really good thing going on down south. The "tummy-time" picture above was from one of the few moments when he wasn't being held by one relative or another. Great-grandma Kasper. Grandma (in the must-have four-generation picture). Grandpa. Uncle Connor. He even managed to scare up some groupies. The kid's got skills.

In all seriousness, we had a terrific time, as does anyone who gets to experience the Rynne brand of hospitality -- many of you out there know exactly what I'm talking about. And knowing Kasper is in good hands makes this week without him and his mom a little easier to take.

Still, that train can't come soon enough.

One last picture. Sleep tight, Kasper. Daddy's got big hugs for you Wednesday!

Outfitted for an adventure

Doesn't he look ready to embark on the biggest adventure of his life? We're heading south to see the grandparents, and Kasper will spend his first nights away from home since he got here. As long as his mom -- and hence his food supply -- are nearby, I doubt it'll faze him. Bet he turns out to be a big fan of North Carolina barbecue.

Our two-month checkup went off without a hitch. Kasper is now 24 1/4 inches (95th percentile!) and weighs 12 pounds, 13 oz. (75th). We're calling him Shaq. The endorsement deal from Reebok should be finalized any day now.

Friday Night Videos

Kasper was playing in his chair earlier today. Here's a short video of the festivities.

Home alone

Meaghan is back at work, leaving me home alone with the baby for the first time. He's asleep for now, and she just left, so we've got about four hours to go. What are the odds he sleeps the whole time? Not good. Here's hoping he takes it easy on me.

Bursting out at the seams

Overnight, it seems, our little boy has become a bit less little than he was. All of the clothes he'd been wearing his entire life are suddenly just a bit too tight (God, do I know that feeling). We can feel it when we pick him up, too. There's just a lot more of him to love than there used to be. It's great that he's putting on weight, but it's a little alarming, too. Do they really grow up this fast? He's practically ready to shave!
